I regret the multiple times that I didn’t bother to pay my phone bill on time...and it got shut off.
I regret many of my fashion choices in the 90s when I was trying to find the sweet spot between professional & grunge. (Spoiler: there wasn't one.)
I regret letting my friend James use me to experiment with hair color so we could “bring out the red undertones.”
But the one that really sticks?
I really regret letting my fear of scarcity keep me from doing a seminar abroad.
It would be another 16 years before I’d make it to Europe.
And while I've been lucky enough to travel since, I will probably whisper “just take the trip” with my dying breath.
Because visiting somewhere is one thing.
Living there? Next level.
Wandering the neighborhood streets in my Burberry trench & wellies, as a red double-decker bus passes by...
Popping into Sainsbury’s for Stilton cheese & Jammie Dodgers…
Meeting friends at a pub & getting properly wankered…
Coming home at Christmas with a mysteriously upgraded accent...Madonna-style.
Man, I want that story.
And maybe...I still will.
I recently read The Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse who spent years with patients at the end of their lives.
The most common regret?
Not living true to themselves. Not pursuing their dreams.
One patient said, "How can it be possible I have waited all these years to be free and independent and now it's too late?"
I don’t know about you, but I would love to make the future, elderly version of Cindy super proud of the current, less-elderly version.
I’d love for her to tell stories of how her life grew bigger & richer once she stopped playing it safe & started really exploring how to fill her days with as much joy as possible.
If you also feel a tug that there might be more out there for you & you’d like to figure out what that could look like, schedule a free consultation.
Let’s dream together & make the future version of yourself cry tears of pride & joy over the steps you chose to take.
Let's work together to find the career path that truly excites you. Send me a message to take the first step toward finding what you're passionate about.
