“Just one”, I respond to the host at a trendy new restaurant in Charleston.

“Oh! In that case, we’ve got a seat available at the chef’s table up front. Would that work?”

Don’t mind if I do.

I’m promptly escorted past groups waiting for tables of four like I’m some important. Honestly, a delightful perk of solo travel.

Restaurants love a party of one. They can slide you into that one open seat and & you get ushered right to your seat as if you’re Anna Wintour.

Note to self: Next time, keep the sunglasses on. Commit to the look.

Beyond the VIP seating perks, solo travel has its own kind of magic.

People are more likely to strike up conversations. It’s easier to move through airports & train stations. And, oh yeah…

You get to do whatever you want, whenever you want, for as long as you want. Without needing to consult with anyone.

And then there are the quieter, more powerful shifts.

When you navigate a new city alone, make decisions without input, and figure things out in as you go…something shifts.

You stop waiting for permission.

You trust your own judgment.

You realize you’re more capable that you thought.

This is the same shift I see with coaching clients.

As they uncover the limiting beliefs & filters they’ve been operating from, their world expands. New options appear. Confidence builds. And what once felt out of reach suddenly feels possible.
